In our latest session of the “Art from Rubble” project with teacher Sahar’s students, we began a new workshop titled “Colored Stones from the Rubble.”
The girls collected stones from the debris near their homes and, inside our small renovated room, painted them with bright acrylic colors.

This time, they painted a sleeping child, symbolizing his quiet wish for safety, warmth, and a real home made of concrete instead of a nylon tent.

The students painted on cardboard boxes , creating images of cactus plants, books, and picture frames — symbols that reminded them of their former homes destroyed in northern Gaza.
Read MoreIn today’s session, the children painted the faces of loved ones they’ve lost because of the war — each portrait filled with raw emotion: sadness, joy, anger… capturing how we remember those we miss in both their best and hardest moments.
The activity also expressed their deep longing for home, the place that once brought their families together but is now gone.
