Fundraiser for The Hands Up Project's Educational Space in Cairo

This year we are walking from the Alpujarra mountains to Granada, in Spain, then from Bristol to London, starting on February 28th and ending on March 22nd. We will take part in the Ramadan fast and share Iftar at Mosques, in solidarity with the Muslim community. Funds raised this year will go to the Hands Up School in Cairo, where children who have escaped from Gaza are taught by Palestinian teachers and by volunteers from around the world. Forty children are taught at the school.

Art from the Rubble: Shelter & Hope for Gaza’s Children

In Gaza, survival is not just about finding food and shelter — it is about holding on to hope, identity, and creativity in the midst of destruction.

We urgently need to raise £2,500 to provide:

1️⃣ A shelter tent for Nada and her family, giving them safety and dignity.

2️⃣ A Travelling Art Tent – a mobile creative hub where children can learn, play, and express themselves through drawing, writing, and storytelling.

Support the 'Stories Alive & Reborn' programs that have been running in Gaza - The Hands Up Project

The funds raised will go to the 'Stories Alive' educational program for children, that's been running in 5 centres in Northern Gaza under extremely difficult conditions. Teachers have opened up their homes to help educate local students, who are learning English through interactive storytelling under unimaginable circumstances. Safety, food, water and medicines are scarce; yet these children still continue to attend make-shift classrooms to improve their chances of survival. Our teachers are heroes, let's help provide them a salary. Check out this short video that highlights this beautiful program, where international volunteers also support classes by zooming into the classroom and offer 'team teaching' with the Palestinian teachers and offer native conversational English for the children.

This section used to include a breakdown of what your donation could go towards when we were operating normally but with the current catastrophe all over Palestine, and especially in Gaza, we are not able to work in the way we did before. This does not mean that your donation will not be well used to support young people in Palestine. In fact we are as busy as ever! All donations go towards financing our work which currently centres around these areas.

1) Funding salaries, materials and equipment for our Stories Alive clubs and drama clubs happening in Gaza right now

2) Providing emotional support to traumatised children and teachers in Gaza

3) Training new volunteers to run Facebook live sessions or our new curriculum based sessions in the West Bank

4) Arranging and managing connections between teachers in the West Bank and our volunteers for online link ups with Palestinian children in schools.

5) Raising awareness around the world by giving online and face to face talks about our work and about education in Palestine in general.

A donation to the Hands Up Project is vital to our work helping children and young people in Palestine.
