Three ‘Oh Big Blue’ Performances
By Nick Bilbrough
So far we have three performances (all very different, in completely different contexts!) related to our second collection of poetry by Palestinian Children, ‘Oh Big Blue’.
In early August of this year, just after I’d arrived in the Uk from Mexico, we were treated to this brilliant piece of remote theatre, performed live from Cairo by Gazan children to a packed audience at Palestine House in London.
The play was inspired by Joud Isleem’s poem that we named the book after, and written by her sister, Jana.
You can watch the recording below.
Today, by coincidence, we’ve received two more recordings!
The first one was this incredible concert inspired by the poems, put together by a collective of musicians and artists from Hastings. (watch it below)
The second recording we received today is of children in Belfast reading the poems from the book in Irish and English. It’s very beautiful to see, and we’re so proud of the way this book has taken off in so many differnet ways, especially in ireland.
All three of these recordings would make a very welcome addition to the exhibition. It’s currently in Derry, but wil soon go to Dublin.
Let us know if you’d like to arrange an ‘Oh big blue’ exhibition where you are in the world.
