Amal & Sara

Amal Says,

I am Amal Hurani. I live in Hebron - a city near Jerusalem. I have been teaching English for 25 years. In this long career, I taught hundreds of students who were part of my experience. I have been working with HUP for two years. My girls have joined many enjoyable, various activities with helpful volunteers from different countries, UK, South Africa and India. This year, I have worked with Sara, whom my girls love. I also want to thank her for joining us the sessions These sessions help my girls to practise English more.

I think, it was an interesting and fruitful experience for my girls; talking about their interests and other exciting topics. I am so grateful to all the Palestinian coordinators for giving us this opportunity.

Sara Says,

I feel very lucky to work with a teacher as dedicated as Amal, the guiding light in the classroom. She encourages her students through technical hitches, and the occasional bout of shyness so that all of us end up having fun and learning something about each other.

Using English for Palestine as the base for our creativity, we’ve invented - and virtually eaten in! - our own restaurants, acted out sports, shared Palestinian wedding traditions, and chatted about our favourite things. I was welcomed into her classroom from the start with the blend of hospitality, pride and enthusiasm which makes for such a great English-learning atmosphere. Thanks to Amal and the girls!
