Santiago Alonso

Salah, in July 2023

My name is Santiago Alonso and I am from Argentina. When I was finishing secondary school, my English teacher, Teresa Continanza, invited me to participate in a Remote Theatre Competition organized by the Hands up Project. The play was called "Live Your Life" and it featured students from different countries such as Palestine, Spain, and Romania, as well as their teachers.

This unique experience exemplified the magic that can be created through technology and creative collaboration. All of our hard work and dedication paid off when we were awarded first prize. Participating in this play motivated me to speak English more often and to be more confident in my speaking. Hanaa Mansour, a teacher from Gaza, was the director of the play. She was so kind and patient when she explained to me how to say my lines or how to move in front of the camera.

I am currently 20 years old and I am studying at university. However, this experience will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you for this amazing opportunity.
