🎨 Art from the Rubble – Daily Update

Today, Nada and the children brought “The Man Who Forgot How to Smile” to life using discarded aid boxes, string, and paint. Together, they rebuilt not just a puppet, but a story of hope, reminding us that hope is made from love and the hands that lift each other up.

The story begins with a man who deeply loved his city “Gaza”. But the war took away his home, his toys, and his memories. As the days passed, he began to feel as though invisible strings were controlling his life. He would wake up, search for water, wait for aid, food, and more water, then fall asleep again. Gradually, the signs of life disappeared, the roads grew dark and covered in ash, and he forgot how to smile.

During our latest session with the children, we gathered discarded aid cardboard boxes and, with a few pieces of string, wire, and paint, gave him a face once more. We gave him hands that could wave in greeting, and a heart that could dream again.🪄

Each child held one of the strings, but no single child controlled him alone. Instead, they worked together to help him stand. In that moment, the man realized that we do not live by strings that control us, but by the hands that reach out to lift us through love, compassion, and the hope that people create together.

And from that day on, he would always say:

“Puppets may be made from cardboard… but hope is made from love.”
